Job Description: 

Job Purpose

Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas Sdn. Bhd (BLNG) is one of the oldest and most established LNG plants worldwide. It has annual revenue of approximately B$ 3.5 billion.

The main purpose of the job of Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer is to ensure the technical integrity, reliability and availability of Rotating Equipment in BLNG by effective engineering support in order to achieve the BLNG business objectives.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to help reboot the reliability enhancement of ageing assets by mix of getting to basics and upgrades/replacements. This requires an effective and intimate relationship between various stakeholders within BLNG. This is a senior role primarily aimed at providing Rotating Equipment expertise to assets in BLNG Process & Terminal Areas. However, it is also expected from this role to advise colleagues in Utilities Areas and support them as needed.

Key Responsibilities (EOR)

  • The JG3 Snr Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible for supporting producing assets BLNG. This person will advise assets on rotating machinery solutions that directly impact process safety, reliability, and production. It is imperative for the candidate to understand and work closely with other disciplines, key internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions and strategies
  • Specific responsibilities are to provide technical expertise in the area of turbo machinery and other rotating equipment:
  • Troubleshooting, RCA, de-bottlenecking and engineering solutions to operating asset
  • Performance and condition monitoring, operating data analysis and interpretations
  • Weekly condition monitoring of equipment on threat list
  • QA & control
  • Address availability and reliability related issues
  • Mentoring and coaching of junior staff
  • Guidance to technology deployment, design practices. This may include, technology evaluation, technology development strategy, deployment of (post pilot) proven technology/practices/processes and maintaining a dialogue with the development and replication teams across BSJV and Shell to identify new and emerging technologies
  • Support delivery of engineering from pre–FEED through detailed design, construction & start-up of the project
  • Develop, implement & sustain standardization efforts where these contribute to delivery targets and Top Quartile ambitions
  • Collaboration with the other engineering disciplines, engineering manager & project manager to support TQ project delivery
  • A highly developed HSSE and quality mindset, technical proficiency, commercial awareness, leadership attributes & the ability to communicate well at all levels internally & externally with staff, contractors & key stakeholders
  • Ability to solve challenging problems by understanding key business needs, bringing together knowledge of internal/external capability & partnering with other disciplines
  • Working with vendors and business partners to ensure accurate & complete scopes of supply and services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ensure the technical integrity, reliability & availability of Rotating Equipment in BLNG by effective engineering support in order to achieve the BLNG business objectives
  • Assist ERE in managing HSE & all contracts related to Rotating Equipment Engineering, conforming to appropriate standards & business principles
  • Provide rotating equipment engineering advice to the maintenance, projects & other relevant engineering disciplines
  • Provide rotating equipment engineering technical advice and assistance to the BSJV Group
  • Maintain, continuously improve & fulfil requirements of the relevant parts of the BLNG Quality Management System including development and implementation of clear procedures, work instructions & audit plans where applicable
  • Develop Rotating Equipment maintenance & condition monitoring programs
  • Authorise expenditures in line with the BLNG Manual of Authorities
  • Assist in the competency development of staff within the Rotating Equipment Engineering section whilst facilitating meeting the Bruneianisation objectives

Qualifications, Certifications & Accreditations 1

Mechanical Engineering BSc or equivalent

Experience Required (2/2)

 

  1. Minimum ten (10) years rotating equipment experience in Oil & Gas industry with relevant exposure to operation, maintenance and projects
  2. The candidate must either hold a TA2 certification at the time of appointment or demonstrate the capability and readiness to achieve TA2 certification within six (6) months of joining the company.
  3. Should be able to make independent decisions in the interest of process safety and business

  2. Scope Definition, Design, and Specification of Equipment, Ancillaries, Transmission, and Monitoring Systems for complex process plants.
  3. Equipment Control, Shut down and Safeguarding Specifications.
  4. Rotating equipment condition monitoring, vibration analysis
  5. Equipment Operation Procedures, Performance monitoring

  19. Construction and Installation Support for Equipment Systems.
  20. Equipment Testing FAT and SAT.
  21. Equipment Commissioning and Start-Up Support, Turnaround support to assets.
  22. Maintenance Strategy and Contracts Support.
  23. DCAF skill level
  24. Use of Industry Standards and Codes like API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, Hydraulic institute standards.
  25. Knowledge of PTM and other online condition monitoring tools (eg: System 1, Smart connect, etc)
  26. Good knowledge of Shell standards (DEP, SPEP, GFS, DDP, HSSE control framework)
  27. Lead HSSE & SP Risk Management
  28. Apply HSSE & SP Risk Management
  • Knowledge in AMS processes.
  • Knowledgeable in asset integrity management (SCE identification, assurance activities), Corrective maintenance prioritization, Spare parts management, PM optimization.
